On site at Upland Road Construction
Construction is well underway at Upland Road Retirement Village in Remuera. The project is a significant one: 11 buildings across 3.2ha of garden environment, containing 183 apartments and a 60-bed care facility, and one of the larger central city retirement developments Auckland has seen.
At Reset, our role spans the full project lifecycle. At resource consent stage we provided site masterplanning, overall landscape design, an urban design assessment, and a landscape and visual assessment. We then prepared developed and detailed design documentation, and have maintained a consistent presence on site throughout construction, working closely with the project team to ensure the landscape intent carries through into how the project is actually being built.
During demolition, we worked with the project arborist to establish tree protection early, retaining the most valuable existing trees on and around the site. The current focus is hard works and services, and given the site's significant contour, the retaining walls and levels are critical to getting the project right. They define movement through the village and set up the outdoor spaces residents will one day enjoy. Getting these details right now really matters. Planting on Stage 1 is due in early spring, and we're looking forward to seeing the landscape come to life.
